Meet Your Executive Board

2016-2017

As President, Robert hopes to make an impact in those who are motivated and interested in pursing a degree in healthcare. He has great organizational experience as he has held multiple positions in various organizations such as Phi Iota Alpha Inc., Order of Omega, and being a part of the founding line for Upsilon Phi Delta. As a graduate student, he hopes to share his knowledge and create a great culture to help students develop leadership and organizational skills. His future career goal is to become a Hospital Administrator to engage the community to improve their health. 

Eduardo ("Eddie") is a HCA graduate student and currently holds a double major in Business Management and Human Resources. He has served as an executive board member for the Latino Student Business Association, and has been the COO for South Bay Cabinets for 8 years. Eddie has a broad array of accomplishments, and he has also been interviewed and featured in the Long Beach Business Journal. As Vice President, his vision for UPD is to help make the CSULB chapter a highly recognized one. His goals include establishing a strong relationship with all HCA students and molding them into the healthcare professionals of tomorrow, to make connections with other UPD chapters, and to expand networking opportunities and promote professional development.

Gabrielle ("Gabbie") is involved in multiple organizations on campus besides Upsilon Phi Delta which include the Panhellenic Council and the Alpha Omicron Pi fraternity. She is living out her passion for healthcare administration by serving as a Quality Management Intern for Kaiser Permanente South Bay Medical Center. Her health care interests include organization development, quality management, and health care services on a global level. Gabbie hopes to help UPD provide students with a support system and serve as a catalyst for personal growth and individual development. Her goal is that each member leaves the organization better prepared to enter their prospective profession and ready to contribute to improve the overall health care field. 

As Secretary, Brenda hopes to be a pillar of support for the Executive Board by being prompt and efficient with her work. Brenda's experience as the Secretary of the Executive Board for the Youth of Fatima in the Los Angeles Archdiocese makes her uniquely qualified for her position. She hopes to create opportunities for all members of UPD that will prepare them for careers in healthcare management, policy, and leadership. Brenda plans on earning a 4.0 GPA as an undergraduate in HCA. She hopes to eventually earn a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification and a MBA.

As the Director of Membership, Monica plans to gain membership by outreach to potential members in which she intends to meet and develop personal relationships with. This is because she wants to ensure that she will always be available for contact for any questions, comments, or concerns, and to also help members gain a strong network within the club. She hopes in building a network between every individual in UPD in order to establish a strong foundation not only for the club, but for each member for their futures in the healthcare field! Through internships, Monica gained the knowledge of how to adapt to different workplaces and create high productivity regardless of the circumstances. She hopes to earn her MBA in Human Resource Management.

As Director of Events, Wilson aims to assist in providing the best possible healthcare experience for students that strive to be better. He has worked for 4 years in Fountain Valley Hospital as a Volunteer Coordinator and has assisted many healthcare managers in improving production. Wilson is also interning at the VA hospital in Long Beach under the System Redesign Department and utilizes Lean and Six Sigma concepts to help improve efficiency and flow in many projects with Primary Care and Mental Health. Wilson’s overall goal is to become a hospital administrator and provide a great healthcare facility for both patients and staff.

As Director of Public Relations, Michael ("Mike") aims to assist in finding qualified and exceptional individuals to build and benefit UPD and its members. In addition, he plans to create a reputable image and environment for UPD that is both professional and nurturing. Mike's experience as an ophthalmologist technician helped him develop an outstanding degree of patience and a warm and welcoming personality, which will play crucial roles in performing his duties. Following his undergraduate career, Mike hopes to achieve a PhD degree in Public Health.

As a biomedical research fellow under the National Institutes of Health's BUILD Initiative, Author is an aspiring health data scientist dedicated to facilitating data-driven policies and decisions. Author is also a Quality Assurance Intern at the VA Long Beach Healthcare System, and the appointed Secretary of Academic Affairs in the President's Cabinet for Associated Students, Incorporated. In his capacity as Director of Social Media, he intends on employing the KSAs under his belt to build the social media brand and image of UPD, and effectively disseminate pertinent information about UPD/HCA opportunities to the HCA student body, in addition to aiding students with personal and professional development. His dream is to ultimately achieve a DrPH in Health Informatics.
